DESCRIPTION OF VACCINE INJURIES
Typical Vaccine Reactions (for which compensation has been paid)

DTP and DtaP vaccine:
|
- Seizures, brain injury (encephalopathy or encephalitis) within 7 days after vaccination
|
|
MMR vaccine:
|
- Seizures, brain injury (encephalopathy or encephalitis) or ataxia (new difficulty with balance or coordination) within 5 to 15 days after vaccination
- Chronic arthritis beginning within 42 days of vaccination
- Thrombocytopenia (unusual bruising or bleeding) 7 to 30 days after vaccination

OPV (oral polio vaccine):
|
- Polio (paralytic poio myelitis) at any time in a person vaccinated or a person exposed to someone vaccinated
|
|
DT and Tetanus vaccine:
|
- Bracial Neuritis within 2 to 28 days after vaccination
- GBS (Guillan-Barre Syndrome) within a few weeks of vaccination
|
|
Other Vaccine Reactions (for which compensation is being sought)
|
|
HIB (hemophilus influenza type b vaccine):
|
- Hib meningitis, Hib epiglottis, or Hib pneumonia within 7 days after vaccination
|
|
MMR vaccine:
|
- Autism
- Acute onset of Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus
- Myocarditis (a viral infection of the heart)
- A serious infection (with almost anything) within a few weeks of vaccination (the measles virus suppresses the immune system)
|
|
Varicella vaccine:
|
- Varicella (chicken pox) infection in person vaccinated or person exposed to someone vaccinated
- Seizures, brain injury (encephalitis, especially cerebellar encephalitis, and encephalopathy) within 15 days after vaccination
- Acute onset of Insulin Dependant Diabetis Mellitus

Hepatitis B vaccine:
|
- Demyelinating Neurologic Disorders such as optic neuritis, GBS and Transverse Myelitis (TM) within a few weeks of vaccination
- A neurologic illness caused by hepatitis type b vaccine may look like the first attack in Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Chronic arthritis beginning within 42 days of vaccination
